HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT DANCE STUDIO AND CLASSES FOR YOUR CHILD

Tips on finding the right dance studio and classes for your child.

Working out the best fit dance studio and classes

A dance studio and classes offer a great way to stay active, build new skills, have fun and meet new friends. It’s not just a dance class. Dancing provides many ongoing benefits, including building resilience, discipline, technique, and posture. Not to mention being part of a supportive, nurturing family environment.

But with so many different types of dance classes and studios, choosing the right one for your child can be overwhelming. We understand that and how important it is to research and trial them out. So, we’ve put together this blog, providing insight into some factors to consider in helping select the perfect dance class for your child’s needs and interests.

Determine your dance style preferences and skill level

Before choosing a dance class, it’s important to consider style preferences and skill level. A hip-hop class may not be the best fit if you’ve always thought of ballet or contemporary dance. You want to choose a style that aligns with your interests and passions.

Additionally, consider skill level as well. Is your child a beginner, or do they have some experience in dancing? The ability level helps narrow options and choose the right dance class to suit your child’s position.

Be honest about what your child can handle physically and emotionally, as starting in an advanced class may be discouraging if they can’t keep up with the other dancers. Above all else,  focus on aspects of feeling included, enjoyment and being content and comfortable with the dance style chosen.

Research local dance studios and classes that offer your preferred style

Once you’ve determined the preferred dance style and skill level, it’s time to research local studios and classes that offer those types of classes. You can start by searching online for dance studios in your area, looking at reviews or ratings from past clients, and checking out their websites. It’s usual for dance studios to offer trial classes or introductory offers for new students, which will allow you to try out different dance styles before committing to a specific class.

Another tip is to ask friends or acquaintances who share your interests in dance if they know of any studios or instructors they recommend. Doing thorough research can help you find the perfect dance class to suit you and your child while ensuring an enjoyable experience.

Check out reviews and talk to other dancers to get feedback on the classes

When trying to find the perfect dance studio and classes, consider the feedback of others. Google Reviews and ratings from past clients provide valuable insight into what you can expect from a particular instructor or studio. Don’t be afraid to talk with other dancers and families who have experience with the style of dance that interests your child. You’ll find those in the dance world are happy to share their knowledge and experiences.

Other dancers can offer recommendations for great classes or instructors they’ve worked with in the past. By researching and seeking feedback from others, you can feel more confident in your decision and ultimately find a dance class that fits your needs perfectly

Consider other factors when choosing a dance studio and classes

Believe it or not, one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a dance studio is the location! Having a dance studio close by can influence your enjoyment level a lot. Especially if it comes time for additional practice if shows or competitions are something your child is keen to try.

A dance studio needs to be convenient and easily accessible, and the dance schedule needs to fit around other commitments and conflicts. Additionally, look at the class structure and difficulty level to ensure it matches your child’s skill level and goals.

Other things to consider might be whether exams, competitions and shows are something your child would like to participate in. Or, your child may be happy to stick with regular class-time dancing. Either option is acceptable and means selecting a dance studio that suits the situation. Considering these factors ensures you’ll find the dance class that fits your child’s interests and aligns with your lifestyle and goals.

Don’t be afraid to try different classes until you find the perfect fit!

It’s worth shopping around and trying different dance studios and genres. Don’t be discouraged if the first dance class you try isn’t a perfect fit. Finding a suitable class that matches your child’s skill level and goals may take some time. Trying out different classes and styles will help discover what type of dance your child enjoys most and which classes challenge them in the right way. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with new styles; you might surprise yourself! Finding the perfect dance studio and class is about discovering what works best for your child and their unique style.
